The Short Course on Local Planning includes:
An overview of the complex mix of land use planning laws that work together to support land-use decision-making in Washington state,
An introduction to comprehensive planning and plan implementation under the Growth Management Act,
A review of the roles in planning and best practices for public participation, and
Mandatory training on the Open Public Meetings Act for local government officials.
All courses are offered at no charge and are open to the public.

The purpose of this hearing is to receive public comment on Sound Transit’s Transit Development Plan 2020-2025 and 2019 Annual Report. In accordance with RCW 35.58.2795, Sound Transit is required to prepare a six-year transit development plan and annual report, as well as conduct a public hearing. Information about the proposed plan is provided on the Transit Development Plan webpage.

Annual Report to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) on development of the various transit components undertaken by Sound Transit.

Your Voice, Your Choice Participatory Budgeting Program suspended for 2020

In response to COVID-19, Seattle Department of Neighborhoods, along with all City departments, has been shifting resources, staff, and efforts toward supporting the needs of our community, including our most vulnerable residents. With the challenges of uncertain economic conditions this year and next, the Your Voice, Your Choice Participatory Budgeting Program is suspended for 2020.

The Your Voice, Your Choice projects that were awarded in 2019 and were due for construction in 2020 will be delayed and may not be constructed until 2021 at the earliest due to reduced city crew capacity related to COVID-19.

Ms. Nichols will present a mini-workshop on the following:

  • Lessons and activities related to teaching the structure of the city of Seattle, and ways to influence decision makers;
  • Lessons and activities around the City of Seattle budget process;
  • A conversation about what challenges are faced in community engagement in the neighborhood and we’ll collectively generate ideas for expanding outreach.

Community members outside of Ravenna-Bryant are welcome and encouraged to attend. Space is limited.
